The first book that I completed this month is Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. (4 stars)
What this book is about:
This book is about a case of blackmail. Simon is being blackmailed by one of his classmates, Martin, so Martin can get close to Simons best friend Abby. If Simon does not do what Martin says then Martin is going to let everyone know that Simon is gay.
In this book you follow Simon throughout high school. He is trying to figure how to tell the ones he loves that he is gay.
You also get to see the relationship that is forming between Simon and Blue. Simon does not know who Blue really is. All Simon knows is that they both go to the same school.
If you are looking for a cute and suspenseful book that will constantly keep you guessing Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda is for you!

One thing that I love in books is if they include some type of other media, such as art, email, recipes, or text messages. This book includes email. At times I thought it might have been easier to read the physical copy of the book because of the emails. Sometimes listening to emails confuses me but with this book it wasn't confusing.
I enjoyed the friendships in this book. I loved that this book was more friendship based, at least that is how I saw it. The book did develop a romance at the end but I just enjoyed that Simon and Blue had each other. I loved that Blue and Simon were friends on the internet. I enjoyed that they had each other to talk about things that they could not talk to other people about.
This is just a feel good book that will keep you on your toes the whole time. I kept trying to guess who Blue was. I would think of things that would solidify my guess but I was wrong.
I would definitely recommend this book to people. I also recently found out that it is going to a movie. If you haven't read this yet you need to before the movie comes out.
The next book that I finished this month was You by Caroline Kepnes. (4 stars)
It took me a while to finish it, mainly because it is terrifying.
This book kept me interested in what was going to happen to these characters but it also gave me nightmares. I was afraid that I would meet someone like Joe and my life would just go to crap.
What the book is about:
Beck goes into a bookstore where she meets Joe. Joe becomes completely obsessed with Beck and bad things start happening to those who are trying to get in his way.
If you are looking for a good psychological thriller You is a good one!
The last book that I finished this month was The Giver by Lois Lowry. (4 stars)
I had to read The Giver for my middle school literature class and I hated it. This was my first run in with dystopian novels and I didn't understand it.
I couldn't grasp the concept of this world and why it was so foreign from our own. (This is a book that I was required to read before I became an avid reader. So reading this was a struggle for me back then.)
Dystopian novels were just hard for me to comprehend in middle school but I decided to give The Giver another shot to see if I would enjoy it the second time and I did.

If you do not know what The Giver is about it takes place in a world where this is no independence or freedom. The government chooses your job and your children for you. One household can have one boy and one girl. The children are not biologically related to their parents because its someones job to have children for the community.
On the children's 12th birthday they get assigned what job they will have in the future. Jonas, the main character, gets chosen to be the next Receiver of Memory.
No one in this community has memories of what has happened in the past, before the community was formed. That job is the responsibility of the Receiver to take in the memories and to advise the council if they are unsure of what to do next.
Jonas soon finds out that their is more to the world than just what he was taught growing up.
Now that I have read the book I just want to watch the movie. I watched it a while ago when it first came out but I don't remember much.
