January Wrap Up 2017

This month I completed four books.

The first book that I completed this month was one that I started in December. That book is Thanks for the Trouble by Tommy Wallace. I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads.
I picked this book up because (I think) I remember Trina from Between Chapters on YouTube talked highly of it.

I know that normally people like to discuss why they did not like a book. Today I want to tell you why I liked this book and gave this book 3 stars.
  1. This book was about getting out of your comfort zone.
  2. Zelda made Parker come out of his shell. She did not let him hide behind the fact that he didn't speak. She made him talk to other people.
  3. The ending! The ending made me question the entire book and I love when books do that!
This is one book that I will definitely be rereading. Next time I want to try and read it in the span of a day. I think if I would have read this book in a day or two I would have given it a higher rating.

I went into this book knowing hardly anything about it. This is one book that I want to encourage people to go in blind.

The second book that I finished this month was Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle. This book for me was a let down. I found so many issues with each story that I could not love the book as much as I hoped I would. I wanted a sappy good old Christmas romance that was the perfect dose of cheesy and unrealistic. Sadly that did not happen. I got a girl who found out that she did not like her boyfriend, a boy who wanted to see cheerleaders, and a snobby girl who wants her boyfriend back. This book was just filled with drama.
If I had to pick one story that was my "favorite" I would pick the first one. The Jubilee Express has many issues, the awful boyfriend and the girl finding out that she didn't actually like him. This story to me was the one that had an actual thought out plot.
( I know that I said earlier that I wanted a sappy good old Christmas romance that was the perfect dose of cheesy and unrealistic. The last sentence that I just wrote might be contradictor of the previous statement but I feel like you can have a cheesy and unrealistic novel with out compromising the plot. When I say cheesy and unrealistic I am talking more about the romance than I am the plot. I want the book to have a plot that has depth.)
Even though I am being very critical of this book I ended up giving it a 3 stars on Goodreads, which I am thinking about changing to 2 stars. I did enjoy the fact that these stories were loosely connected. I didn't hate it but I certainly did not love this book.

The third book that I completed was The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West. I bought this book from my local library thinking that this would fill one of the Pop Sugar reading challenges, it didn't. This is one that I did not have any feelings after reading.
While reading I did not like the main character and I waited for her to realize what she was doing.
But overall I didn't hate or love this book. I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads.

The fourth book that I "read" this month was one I actually listened to. I started and finished it in one day and that book is Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick. I seriously enjoyed this book. This is a book that I want to buy, go back and read, and then put up quotes in my room to motivate myself.
This book made me want to do things but it also made me feel guilty and unaccomplished because when I was 12 I was stressing about math homework. When Anna Kendrick was 12 she was working. She was building herself a resume.

I gave this book a 4 stars. I  enjoyed it and wished I had a pen and paper ready to write notes. (I listened to this while driving, which is why I have no notes.)

Currently Reading:
I am in the middle of one book right now that I wished I could have finished before February and that book is The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oaks.
So far I am enjoying this and I can't wait to finish it.

Well that is it for my reading wrap up for the month. Let me know in the comments what books you completed this month.

Thank you for reading.
I hope you have a great day!

December Wrap Up 2016

Here are the few books that I have read this month!

Sculpture by Scott McCloud: no rating
I am not sure how I feel about this book. The whole time I was reading this book I thought: 1) "He's dreaming there is no way this is really happening to him." or 2) "This man is just hallucinating."

I really liked the art. I did not give it a rating on Goodreads because I have no idea what I would rate this. I liked the book but I also didn't like the book. The story just left me feeling kind of left me feeling unaffected by the book. When I read a book I either want to feel something. Throughout this book I didn't feel anything until the ending but I will admit that I would probably pick it back up again in the future.

If you guys are unsure what this is about, this book is about how someone was asked the question what he would give for his art. The guy said that he would give his life. He was given the opportunity to sculpt anything with his hands if he took the offer but if he took the offer he only had 200 days to live.

After you by Jojo Moyes: 4 stars
I really enjoyed this book. I read Me Before You earlier this year and really enjoyed it as well. This book just left me happy.
For those of you who who haven't read Me Before You the book is about a women, Lou, who is let go from her job as a waitress and she is in search of another job. She goes to a place to see if there are any open positions in her town and she is told that there is a quadriplegic man who needs looking after. She is hesitant at first but eventually decides to take the job and her life takes off from there. Me Before You is amazing and I highly recommend everyone read it.

Let me know what books you read in the month of December!
Thanks for reading.
I hope you have a great day!

April Wrap-Up

Hello everybody!
Today I want to share with you the books that I read this past month and some of my thoughts on the books.

This month I did not read that many books. I read two books this past month and started a third one.

The first book I finished this month was The Art Of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein.
My rating: 4/5 stars
This book is told from the perspective of the family dog. If you want to read a book that will make you sad and bawl your eyes out, read this book. You get hit with the sadness in the first chapter where the dog talks about how he wants to die. The Art Of Racing In The Rain had one sad moment after another.
This book is about a journey. Not just the dogs journey through life but his owners. Garth Stein is a really great storyteller and after reading this book I think I am going to pick up more of what he has written.
I would recommend this book to people who are in the mood for a cute but sad book.

The second book that I read this month was If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern.
My rating: 4/5 stars
This book is very cute and kind of annoying. It was cute because of the dynamic between all of the characters and how they grow as the story progresses.
I want to tell you something from the book and it is not really a spoiler, if you don't want to read it keep scrolling down. The only thing that annoyed me was that it took so long for Elizabeth to figure out that Ivan is an imaginary friend. The reader finds out that he is imaginary in the first two chapters.  If I remember correctly I am pretty sure Luke and Ivan told her that he was not real. It just drove me crazy that it took her so long.
One thing that I really loved was the relationship between Elizabeth and Ivan. I am glad that he got her to open up and become a different person as time went on.

If you are looking for a cute little romance I would recommend this. :)

The last book that I started was Just One Day by Gayle Forman.
I have read this book before about two years ago. I wanted to reread it so that I could read Just One Year and Just One Night. I had to take a break from it though. I am really enjoying rereading it but I had to pick up something different. So right now I am reading The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, which is also a reread for me. Maybe when I finish The Lost Hero I can finish reading Just One Day.

Oh I won't be posting a TBR this month because I am not sure how crazy my month is going to get.

Let me know what books you read this month and what you thought of them.
Thanks for reading!
I hope you have a good day!

March Wrap Up

Hello everybody!
Today I wanted to share with you all of the books that I read in the month of March.

The first book that I finished in March was Yes Please by Amy Poehler.
I loved this book. I did a review for this book and I will link it here: http://plethora-of-nonsense.blogspot.com/2016/03/yes-please-review.html
After reading I Hate Myselfie by Shane Dawson and then reading Yes Please it makes me want to go out in the world. I want to explore and make memories.  So that I can document them and share my experiences with people.
Books like these inspire me to do more in my life.

My rating: 4/5 stars

The next book that I finished was Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. This book will make you laugh and cry.
This book is about a girl who loses her job and then goes to a job center to find another job. One that opens up is a caregiving job and the girl, Louisa, will be to required to take care of a quadriplegic man.
This book is very good. I highly recommend it. There is also a movie coming out soon.

My rating: 4.5/5 stars

My reading this month was terrible. I am 5 books behind for my reading goal for the year. Maybe I can catch up in the month of April.

Let me know in the comments what books you read in the month of March!
I hope you have a good day!
Thanks for reading.

February Wrap up

Hello everyone!
Today I want to talk to you about what I read this month!

The first book I completed was the Secret Sisters by Jayne Ann Krentz. I would like to first point out that I really like the cover and the inside of the book. I like it when publishers do that for books.
My rating for this book on Goodreads was 4/5 stars
If you don't know what this book is about it is about a mystery. Madeline has a traumatic event happen when she was a child and her friend Daphne was there. Many years later that event comes back up and they (Madeline, Daphne, and Madeline's security team) have to unravel how people in the present connect to that traumatic situation in her past.
This book started out with a bang! It hooked me from the start. The only reason that I did not write a review for this book is because it took me most of January and the first week in February to finish it. (BUT) I enjoyed this book a lot. I really liked the mystery. The only thing that I did not like about this book was the romance. I normally like the romance in books but not this one. To me it wasn't believable and that is the main reason that I could not give it five stars. To those of you that have read this book did you like the romance? Let me know in the comments.

The second book that I read was Before I Go To Sleep by S. J. Watson. My rating for this book on Goodreads was 4.5/5 stars.

Before I Go To Sleep is a book about remembering the past and trusting people. Christine wakes up everyday confused. She is unaware of who is sleeping next to her. She has forgotten her husband and their life together. Her husband, Ben, tells her the story of their life together everyday, but is he telling her everything or is he only telling her what he wants her to know?

I really enjoyed this book. I had an issue with the ending. I thought it was rushed. I needed another page or two. If you want to read my full review then you can click here: http://plethora-of-nonsense.blogspot.com/2016/02/before-i-go-to-sleep-book-review.html

The third book that I read this month was Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon. I gave this book a 3/5 stars on Goodreads. I thought that this book was okay.
I knew the ending before I read this book. I was looking up some reviews, to see if it was good, before I read the book and I was spoiled for how it ended. I thought that knowing the ending wouldn't ruin the book for me, I was wrong. I keep thinking that if I didn't know the ending that I would love it more.

The fourth and last book that I read this month was I Hate Myselfie by Shane Dawson. I found Shane's YouTube channel this month and decided to pick up his book. I absolutely loved this book. I was very skeptical of reading this book at first because it was written by a YouTuber but it was really good. This was the first book that I have read by a YouTuber and it has convinced me that I should pick up some more books by YouTubers. If you have any recommendations please leave them in the comments.
Here is my review: http://plethora-of-nonsense.blogspot.com/2016/03/i-hate-myselfie-book-review.html

5/5 Stars

Books I Did Not Finish:
I couldn't finish Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella. I borrowed this book from the library because it was another book about amnesia. I thought that I would like it because I really enjoyed Before I Go To Sleep.
This was not good. I got 200 pages in and thought to myself 'I am not going to make myself finish a book that I dislike'. I just couldn't make myself read it anymore.
I didn't like the characters, especially the husband, and I have a feeling I wasn't supposed to. The husband drove me nuts and was the main reason I could not continue.

I think that I had a pretty good reading month.
Let me know what books you read this month in the comments.
Thanks for reading.
I hope you have a good day!

Hello

Hello everyone, I know that I have not posted in a while and I am sorry. I fell into a rut about what I wanted to write about on here. I...
