March Favorites | 2016

Hello everyone!
I am excited because today I am going to talk to you about the things that I was loving in the month of March. There is a very random mixture of things.

Here is an overview of some of the things that I loved this past month!

These plaid shoes are amazing. They are so comfortable. I walk a lot during the day and these are the  only shoes that don't make my feet feel sore.

I have used this Elf face primer for a little bit. I can't really tell a difference in my skin at the moment. I think that is because I don't use it everyday. Maybe when I start to use it more often I will be able to notice something. What I really like about it is the smell. It reminds me of summer.

Okay! This deodorant is possibly the best deodorant I have ever bought and the most expensive. This deodorant was $7-8! I am used to buying the $3-4 deodorant. I won't be going back to the other deodorant again though. I (again) love the way this smells. It also smells like summer. It has kind of a citrus smell. If you get this deodorant I suggest getting the clear kind that way it doesn't leave marks on your clothes.

These are possible the best pants I have ever bought! These are jeans that fit like leggings. I bought these from Rue21 and all I want to do is wear them.
I do have a few complaints about these pants. 1. There are no front pockets. There are back pockets but no front pockets. 2. They get those little fuzz things. You know, those fuzz things that you get on the insides of your thighs when they rub together. Its a little annoying.

The next thing on my favorites list are these bluetooth headphones. I love these. The ear buds are attached to the wires and the earbuds magnetically attach to the headset. I love this because you don't have to untangle wires.
The one thing that I find really helpful about these headphones is that it tells you the battery level as you are listening to things. It will tell you battery high, battery medium, battery low, and battery low needs to charge. The thing is that I always forget to charge them. :( I listened to the whole audiobook of Yes Please before the battery got low so they have a good battery life, I think.
The only complaint I have about these headphones is that when you are watching a video on YouTube the audio and video are not synced. I know what you might be thinking..Did you try to watch the video with regular headphones and see if the video sync was still an issue? My answer to that is yes I did. The video played just fine with regular headphones in and it was wonky when I tried to watch them with these headphones.

The next thing on my favorites list is an app and that app is the podcast app. Since I walked (and am still walking) a bunch in March I needed something to listen to while I walk, besides audiobooks. I have gone back and forth to three different podcasts. The three podcasts that I listen to are the Jenna and Julien podcast, Psychobabble, and Serial. I don't listen to Serial that often but every once and a while I will turn on a episode.

The last thing on my favorites list for the month of March is music. (Almost) Every time I write a blog post I find myself going to YouTube and turning on Halsey's new album. I love it. If you have not heard it I suggest you go look it up. My favorite song is Castle and I think it is my favorite because that is the first song I ever heard by her.

Let me know in the comments what you were loving in the month of March.
I hope you have a good day!
Thanks for reading!

March Wrap Up

Hello everybody!
Today I wanted to share with you all of the books that I read in the month of March.

The first book that I finished in March was Yes Please by Amy Poehler.
I loved this book. I did a review for this book and I will link it here: http://plethora-of-nonsense.blogspot.com/2016/03/yes-please-review.html
After reading I Hate Myselfie by Shane Dawson and then reading Yes Please it makes me want to go out in the world. I want to explore and make memories.  So that I can document them and share my experiences with people.
Books like these inspire me to do more in my life.

My rating: 4/5 stars

The next book that I finished was Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. This book will make you laugh and cry.
This book is about a girl who loses her job and then goes to a job center to find another job. One that opens up is a caregiving job and the girl, Louisa, will be to required to take care of a quadriplegic man.
This book is very good. I highly recommend it. There is also a movie coming out soon.

My rating: 4.5/5 stars

My reading this month was terrible. I am 5 books behind for my reading goal for the year. Maybe I can catch up in the month of April.

Let me know in the comments what books you read in the month of March!
I hope you have a good day!
Thanks for reading.

I Hate Myselfie Book Review

Hello everyone!
Today I am finally putting up a review of I Hate Myselfie by Shane Dawson. I know that I read this book last month and it is a little late to be putting a review up of this book but I wanted to anyway.

I gave this book a 5/5 stars on Goodreads. This book made me laugh and cry. I highly suggest you go and pick it up.
So for those of you who don't know, this book is a collections of essays about Shane's life before/after starting YouTube. Before reading this book I suggest that you watch some of his videos to understand his comedy. I will when reading this book don't take everything he says literal. When I was reading this book I was reading it in a sarcastic voice for some parts.
I am going to go into detail and talk about specific parts in this book that I loved so if you have not read this book yet I suggest you go read it then come back so we can discuss. :)

Sad

  • One part of this book made me very sad was when his grandmother died. I have seen some of Shane's earlier videos and saw how much his grandmother meant to him... When I read about when it happened in the book I was all tears! :'(
  • I was sad when he was not allowed to go on the rollercoaster.
  • It was sad when he was trying to ride the rollercoaster, after losing 150+ lbs, and the security guard person had Shane take off his shirt. It was sad that he had so show everyone that he was wearing his mothers bathing suit. I was holding my breath while reading this...I was so nervous to read what was going to happen next!
  • It was sad when he talked about how he compares his body to other peoples bodies.
Terrifying
  • One part that I found terrifying was when Lacy came into Jenny Craig. This was another part in the book where I was holding my breath. I wasn't sure if she was going to say something mean to him or if she would recognize him.
  • The last part in this book that terrified me was when he was talking about astral projection. That freaked me out.

Happy

  • I was really happy when he found his mothers old bathing suit. I was happy that he could finally feel comfortable and go out with his friends. :)
    • I was happy that his friends didn't care that he was wearing a women's bathing suit.
  • I was happy when Shane told Lacy who he was. She didn't know who he was and she didn't remember that she was terrible to him in high school. Then Shane found out that she was going through some terrible stuff too during high school.
I really liked this book and I would love to read more books by YouTubers. I Hate Myselfie was the first book that I have read by a YouTuber. If you guys have any suggestions on which YouTuber book I should pick up next leave them in the comments. Also let me know what you thought of I Hate Myselfie.

I hope you have a good day!
Thanks for reading!

Elf Makeup Haul!

Hello everyone!
Today I decided to do something different. Today I am going to show you what makeup I bought.
I am not a beauty guru. So I don't know much about makeup. I am 20 years old and I am just now experimenting with makeup. I bought mainly Elf brand makeup because it is cheap.
Anyway onto what I bought.

So here is an overview of what I bought.

Here are the two brushed that I bought. One is an eyeshadow brush (white) and the other is an angled brush (black). It does not give a brush number on the brush itself but it does give a number in the top right hand corner. The numbers are 1815 for the eyeshadow brush and 84010 for the angled brush.

The next item I bought was some concealer. I have some Maybeline brand concealer. I bought this one because I don't think that the Maybeline brand covers the dark circles under my eyes well. This concealer is in the shade light beige and the number on the concealer is 231955E02Y.

Then I bought an eyelash curler. I haven't ever used on of these so using this will be an adventure.

Next item that I picked up was some makeup remover wipes. I was using baby oil to remove my makeup because when I first started using makeup products I heard that baby oil was a good product to use when I wanted to remove my makeup. I didn't think that the baby oil did a very good job so I have decided to pick up some makeup removing wipes.

Next item I purchased was some eye primer. I have never used this and I heard that it is supposed to keep you eyeshadow from creasing. This is what it says on the bottom of the primer incase you want to find this shade: 21711 sheer 5L01EA

Face primer was my next purchase. Just like the eye primer, I have never used this before. This is what it says on the bottom of the face primer incase you want to find it: 83408 clear 5K01EA. This particular face primer is to help with acne. Since using makeup my face has broken out so I hope that this helps me. Elf has many different brands of face primer, so you have some choices.

Next item I got was some foundation. I have some Maybeline foundation and I like it but I wanted to try something new. Here is what it says on the bottom of the bottle incase you want to find it: 95012 Light/Medium 5KO2EA.

This is the only item that I bought that was not in the Elf brand. I have used a beauty blender. Mine tore at the tip when I was cleaning it. I guess I was being to rough with it and it tore so I bought some new ones and I saved money by buying the two pack. When I bought my first beauty blender it was around $5-6 and I got both of these for $8!

I bought all of these items at Walmart and I only spent around $30-35. I think that I got a bargain with the Elf brand.
I will let you know what I think about this brand when I try the products.
Let me know down in the comments if you have tried Elf and what you thought. Also let me know if you like these types of blog post because if so I will, try, and continue to talk about makeup in future posts.
Thank you for reading!
I hope you have a good day!

Currently Reading....

Hello everyone!
I haven't finished a book since Yes Please. So this week I thought I could update you on what I am reading and tell you what I think of the book so far.
I am currently reading Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I bought this book after I watched the movie trailer. It is so good! Go look up the trailer.

When I picked up this book it started out at a slow pace. I didn't really get into the book until I was 40-50 pages into the story. This book so far has not made me cry but I have tissues on hand just in case. I have heard from a lot of people that this book leaves you in tears.
I have a bunch of post-its in this book taking notes for a review.
I cannot wait till I finish this book so that I can tell you guys what I thought. I am just having one of those times reading this book where I want to read all of the book when I am reading it, but when I put it down I forget about it.
I don't have any real feel for the characters. I don't love any of them and I don't hate any of them. I have a "meh" kind of attitude towards the characters. I hope once I dive deeper into the story I feel differently. I will let you know.
I am determined to finish this book this week and hopefully have a review up soon.
Let me know what books you are currently reading! Have you read Me Before You? If so what did you think?
I hope you have a good day!

Yes Please Review

Hello everybody!
Today I want to talk to you about Yes Please.  I just finished this book and I loved it. I gave this book a 4.5/5 stars on Goodreads.
For those of you who don't know what Yes Please is about it is about Amy Poehlers life. She writes about how she got into acting and her life after getting jobs like SNL and Parks and Recreation.

This book was a mixture of funny, serious, and sad moments. You see the highs and lows in her life.

I would definitely recommend this book to everyone! I would also recommend the audiobook. I prefer the audiobook to the physical book because she's narrating it and she brought other people in to help her tell the story.

I want to talk about specific parts in the book now. If you have not read this book yet please leave and come back when you have read the book because I would love to continue my discussion with you once you have completed the book.

HAPPY
There were many happy moments in this book and one that stuck out to me was when she was in the  play the Wizard of Oz. It was cute when she improvised. She put Toto down, walked away, and then asked where he was.

SAD
One of the sad moments that happened in this book was a skit that she did on SNL. There was a skit she was in that made fun of a person with disabilities. Amy didn't know that the skit was based on a real person. The sad part was that it took Amy a long time to apologize. I'm glad that she finally apologized and I get why she would be so on the fence about apologizing. She didn't know (before the skit) that it was based on a real person. Amy didn't want to take the fall for something that was out of her control. She was just doing her job.
I am just glad that she eventually got up the courage/strength to apologize and I am happy that Anastasia accepted her apology.

FAULTS
The only reason that I gave this book a 4.5 stars is because there were parts in the book that I didn't understand who she was talking about or what she was referencing. She talked about several different people in this book and I don't think that I had heard of most of them. I also didn't understand the part in the book when she was talking about the show Parks and Recreation. I have never seen the show so I didn't get some of the references or stories that she shared.
What she said about Parks and Recreation makes me want to watch the show now though.

Well all in all I loved this book and I think that I would read it again.
Let me know in the comments what you thought of Yes Please.
I hope you all have a good day!

February Wrap up

Hello everyone!
Today I want to talk to you about what I read this month!

The first book I completed was the Secret Sisters by Jayne Ann Krentz. I would like to first point out that I really like the cover and the inside of the book. I like it when publishers do that for books.
My rating for this book on Goodreads was 4/5 stars
If you don't know what this book is about it is about a mystery. Madeline has a traumatic event happen when she was a child and her friend Daphne was there. Many years later that event comes back up and they (Madeline, Daphne, and Madeline's security team) have to unravel how people in the present connect to that traumatic situation in her past.
This book started out with a bang! It hooked me from the start. The only reason that I did not write a review for this book is because it took me most of January and the first week in February to finish it. (BUT) I enjoyed this book a lot. I really liked the mystery. The only thing that I did not like about this book was the romance. I normally like the romance in books but not this one. To me it wasn't believable and that is the main reason that I could not give it five stars. To those of you that have read this book did you like the romance? Let me know in the comments.

The second book that I read was Before I Go To Sleep by S. J. Watson. My rating for this book on Goodreads was 4.5/5 stars.

Before I Go To Sleep is a book about remembering the past and trusting people. Christine wakes up everyday confused. She is unaware of who is sleeping next to her. She has forgotten her husband and their life together. Her husband, Ben, tells her the story of their life together everyday, but is he telling her everything or is he only telling her what he wants her to know?

I really enjoyed this book. I had an issue with the ending. I thought it was rushed. I needed another page or two. If you want to read my full review then you can click here: http://plethora-of-nonsense.blogspot.com/2016/02/before-i-go-to-sleep-book-review.html

The third book that I read this month was Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon. I gave this book a 3/5 stars on Goodreads. I thought that this book was okay.
I knew the ending before I read this book. I was looking up some reviews, to see if it was good, before I read the book and I was spoiled for how it ended. I thought that knowing the ending wouldn't ruin the book for me, I was wrong. I keep thinking that if I didn't know the ending that I would love it more.

The fourth and last book that I read this month was I Hate Myselfie by Shane Dawson. I found Shane's YouTube channel this month and decided to pick up his book. I absolutely loved this book. I was very skeptical of reading this book at first because it was written by a YouTuber but it was really good. This was the first book that I have read by a YouTuber and it has convinced me that I should pick up some more books by YouTubers. If you have any recommendations please leave them in the comments.
Here is my review: http://plethora-of-nonsense.blogspot.com/2016/03/i-hate-myselfie-book-review.html

5/5 Stars

Books I Did Not Finish:
I couldn't finish Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella. I borrowed this book from the library because it was another book about amnesia. I thought that I would like it because I really enjoyed Before I Go To Sleep.
This was not good. I got 200 pages in and thought to myself 'I am not going to make myself finish a book that I dislike'. I just couldn't make myself read it anymore.
I didn't like the characters, especially the husband, and I have a feeling I wasn't supposed to. The husband drove me nuts and was the main reason I could not continue.

I think that I had a pretty good reading month.
Let me know what books you read this month in the comments.
Thanks for reading.
I hope you have a good day!

Hello

Hello everyone, I know that I have not posted in a while and I am sorry. I fell into a rut about what I wanted to write about on here. I...
